Rogers State stayed alive in the postseason with a 68-57 win over Oklahoma City in the quarterfinal round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament Thursday.

Both teams struggled to find the offensive rhythm early as Rogers State led 5-0 with 14 minutes to play in the half. The Hillcats scored the game's first 11 points before the Stars got on the scoreboard at the 12:18 mark on a Kavon Lytch layup.

The Stars rallied to take a one-point lead with 13:13 left in the game, but RSU built the lead back to 44-36 on a Lance Sullivan steal and three-pointer with 11 minutes to play. Sullivan hit another three for a 47-36 edge with 10:41 left.

Rogers State led by as many as 17 in the second half.

Sullivan finished 19 points - all in the second half, while Sylvester Spicer added 18 and Reggie Burnett 14. Chirs Brown led the Stars with 21.

Oklahoma City ends the tournament with a 17-9 record and an at-large berth to the NAIA Tournament most likely coming its way.

Rogers State (21-10) advances to the semifinal round and will play host Southern Nazarene at 8 p.m. Friday.

SNU 69, MACU 65
A.J. Thomas hit two free throws with four seconds left to lift to break the upset trend and give second-seeded Southern Nazarene a 69-65 win over Mid-America Christian in Bethany Thursday.

MACU led by as many as nine points in the game, but the Crimson Storm flexed defensively and held the Evangels to 27 percent shooting in the second half.

Xavier Alexander led the Storm with 21 points while Thomas added 12 and Jeremy Lightfoot 10.

Brandon Williams and Charlie Shorter had 17 each for MACU, with George Haynes contributing 10.

Southern Nazarene (25-6) advances to the finals to play Oklahoma City or Rogers State at 8 p.m. Friday.

Mid-America Christian ends its season at 16-15.

LCU 67, OBU 64
Lubbock Christian pulled the second, but biggest, upset of the day, knocking of second-ranked Oklahoma Baptist in the first round of the Sooner Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament in Bethany Thursday.

The Chaps never trailed in the game and led by as many as nine points in the first half, but held on as OBU missed two would-be game-tying three-pointers in the final 10 seconds by A.J. Hawkins and Emmanuel Wilson.

The Bison trailed by five with 24 seconds left, but Hawkins hit a trey to make it a two-point game.

Kenny Hewitt hit one of two free throws to open the door for a tie with 12 seconds left, but the Chaps held on defensively.

Hewitt and Douglas Williams scored 18 apiece as the Chaps posted the second-best shooting night against the Bison this season at 52.3 percent. Benoit Bekono was 6-for-6 from the field in his 14-point effort.

OBU, the NAIA leader in field goal percentage, shot just 41 percent for the game.

The Chaparrals (14-15) will play John Brown at 6 p.m. Friday in the semifinals.

Now 28-3, the Bison will play their next game in Kansas City's NAIA National Division I Tournament.
