OCU 79, LCU 77 (OT)

Oklahoma City didn't have a lead for 39:20, but had it when the game ended in overtime, 79-77, advancing past Lubbock Christian in the Sooner Athletic Conference women's semifinals Friday in Bethany.

The Chaparrals had a 61-57 lead when Donica Cosby went on a personal 6-0 run for a 63-61 Stars lead. Cosby, who finished with 30 points, had a four-point possession. She scored and was fouled, rebounded her own free throw miss and scored again.

Severyn Smith scored on a driving layup with 24 seconds left to send the game to overtime.

Cosby scored six points early in the overtime period and OCU held on for the win.

Joining Cosby in double figure scoring for OCU were Chontaye Walter with 14, KJ Johnson with 11 and Lauren Gober with 10.

Smith led LCU with 13, while Renee Wilson followed with 12. April Ehlers, Brittany Hampton and Shamika Singleton had 11 each and Ashley Coggins added 10.

LCU bows out of the SAC Tournament at 19-11 and will wait for an at-large berth to nationals.

The Stars (28-3) earned the league's second automatic berth by reaching the finals against regular season berth winner Oklahoma Baptist. OCU and OBU will play for the conference tournament crown Saturday at 4 p.m.

OBU and OCU split the regular season series and had no other losses in conference action, setting up the showdown.

OBU 87, RSU 75

Oklahoma Baptist shot 66 percent from the field and advanced to the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament championship with an 87-75 victory over Rogers State in the semifinals Saturday at Southern Nazarene University.

The Lady Bison, who led by as many as eight points in the first half, trailed at halftime 44-41. OBU fell behind 47-41 but reeled off a 12-0 run with the first six coming from Samantha Smith inside. The OBU women shot 75 percent (15-20) from the field in the second half.

Amy Pryor and Ashley Harrell hit back-to-back three-pointers in the middle of a 10-0 run that gave the Lady Bison some breathing room at 72-56 with 8:08 left in the game. The lead peaked at 77-58 with seven minutes remaining after Taujhnae Travis went on a personal 5-0 run.

The Hillcats trimmed the lead to nine with 38 seconds left, but were outscored 5-2 from there.

Travis led the Lady Bison with 25 points, while Gabi Mattox had 13, Amy Pryor 12 and Smith and Val Siemens 11 each. Pryor had nine assists.

Candice Stewart led the Hillcat effort with 18 points, followed by Logan Froese with 14 and Hunter Peterson and Yoda Woods with 11 apiece.

Rogers State finishes the tournament at 21-11.

OBU (30-2) reached 30 wins for the second season in a row. The program had not won 30 games in one season prior to last year.

OBU will play the Lubbock Christian-Oklahoma City winner at 4 p.m. Saturday for the Tournament title.
