(bracket)
Four women's basketball teams from the Sooner Athletic Conference are headed to Jackson, Tenn., for next week's 2010 NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship.
Oklahoma City is the top seed in the second quadrant, Oklahoma Baptist is the second seed in the third quadrant, Lubbock Christian is the sixth seed in the fourth quadrant and Oklahoma Christian is the seventh seed in the first quadrant.
While an All-SAC Fab Four isn't out of the question, the teams will have some big obstacles to overcome.
Oklahoma City (29-3) will be the first team in action, taking on Shorter (22-9) at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday. If the Stars win, they play at 10:45 a.m. on Friday against either Lewis-Clark State (28-5) or Biola (20-11). Campbellsville (31-2) is the favorite to advance to the quarterfinal opposite of OCU.
Oklahoma Christian (19-12) probably has the toughest road to get past the weekend. They open at 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday, taking on second-seeded Point Loma Nazarene (26-4). A win puts them in a 4:30 p.m. game on Friday against 26-6 Westminster or hometown Lambuth. And if the Lady Eagles escape that, they could be facing hometown Union at 6 p.m. on Saturday in the quarterfinals.
Thursday morning begins with OBU (30-3) on the floor at 9 a.m. against William Jewell (26-7). If OBU can knock off the Cardinals for a second time this season, they will play at 12: p.m. on Friday against Langston (25-7) or Lee (28-5). Vanguard (25-2) is the top seed in that quadrant.
Lubbock Christian (19-11) has its work cut out for them as well. They open with Freed-Hardeman (26-6) at 8 p.m. Thursday and, with a win, would play a second round game against Azusa Pacific (25-6) or Montana Tech (19-9), at 9:45 p.m. on Friday in a slot that would seem to favor the western schools. St. Xavier (29-1) is the top seed in the quadrant.
The NAIA will provide livestats for each game. Ticket information is available here.
