KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Sooner Athletic Conference player of the year Taujhnae Travis of Oklahoma Baptist and Donica Cosby of Oklahoma City University became first-team NAIA Division I women's basketball all-Americans.
On the second team were Oklahoma City's Holly Hardin and Southern Nazarene's Lana Keith. OCU's Starr Fairbanks and Chontaye Walter earned all-tournament in the NAIA Tournament.
Travis, a senior from Humble, Texas, averaged 16.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.09 steals a game for the Lady Bison. She scored more than 1,000 career points.
Travis became two-time SAC player of the year, all-tournament in the SAC Tournament and all-American. Travis picked up SAC player of the week for Feb. 1-7.
Cosby, a junior from Coldwater, Miss., registered 13.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.03 steals per game for the Stars this season. She reached 20 points in a game eight times. Her highlights include scoring 32 against Wayland Baptist on Jan. 4, 30 against Lubbock Christian on March 5 and 29 at Rogers State on Jan. 7.
She also was named first-team all-conference, SAC newcomer of the year and SAC Tournament most valuable player. Cosby was named SAC player of the week for Nov. 2-8 after recording 20 points and 10 assists vs. Langston on Nov. 7.
Hardin, a senior from Chickasha, Okla., and Keith, a senior from Washington, Okla., became two-time all-Americans.
During the NAIA Tournament, Fairbanks averaged 20.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.25 blocks a game. Walter recorded 10.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.25 steals during OCU's four-game national-tournament run.
