Oklahoma Baptist won three events at the prestigious Drake Relays over
the weekend and broke two school records along the way.
The OBU men won the 4x400 relay, the sprint medley and the 4x800.
"It was a really good weekend and we were fortunate to get our 4x400 relay in before the meet was rained out," said Bison Coach Ford Mastin. "It was great to have our guys get to go to the media room three times and get a lot of recognition. They've been working hard. The girls ran well, but just didn't win any events. We got the three wins and the men's 4x200 was third so we were really competitive in four of the six men's relays."
The men's sprint medley team of Justin Fry, Ethan Mignard, Travis Bish and Andre Thomas won in 3:21.97, setting a school record and beating Central State by over three seconds.
The men's 4x800 relay won behind a 7:35.10 mark by Billy Christy, Cody Camacho, Thomas and Jabar Rolle.
Bish, Mignard, Seagram Kern and Pierien Inniss won the 4x400 relay in 3:09.56.
OBU was third in the men's 4x200 relay with Justin Fry, Mignard, Roman Gray and Kern finishing in 1:26.25.
The Bison were 22nd in the distance medley relay with Rolle, Kern, Camacho and Christy finishing in 10:25.73.
The men's 4x100 team of Fry, Mignard, Gray and Inniss DQ'd in the finals after running a 42.19 in the preliminary round.
