Nancy Pierre receiving her MVP trophy after leading her team to a gold medal in the Central American Championship Games.
Former JBU women's basketball player Nancy Pierre (2003-2007) earned the Most Valuable Player Award after leading her country Panama to a gold medal during the 2010 Central American Championship Games. Pierre averaged 21.25 points per game during the tournament.

Panama defeated Costa Rica 74-65 to take the title. Other teams competing in the tournament included Nicaragua, Honduras, and El Salvador.

"I was very happy to win the MVP tournament trophy," said Pierre, "But the best thing of all is that we gave Panama a gold medal."

During her four years as a Golden Eagle, Pierre earned the Sooner Athletic Conference Sportsmanship Award and was also an All-Conference selection. Although she missed 19 games during her junior year to an ACL injury, she is still currently ranked 17th on the JBU scoring list with 815 points.

On the men's side, former JBU men's basketball player and SAC All-Conference player Joel Tesis (2004-2008) helped Panama's men win take home a silver medal.
