Oklahoma Baptist University standout A.J. Hawkins has signed a
professional basketball contract with Massagno of Switzerland's LNBA.
Hawkins, who will always be remembered for his go-ahead three-pointer in the waning moments of the 2010 NAIA championship game, will be in his first season in the pros. The 6-5 guard averaged 17.2 points and had 84 assists in helping the Bison to a 33-3 record and the team's first national title since 1966.
"I feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to play professional basketball. I want to thank my family for their support and my coaches and fans for a great season," Hawkins said.
He was an honorable mention All-America pick and was All-NAIA Tournament after averaging 18.6 points per game in the tournament. He also was first-team All-Sooner Athletic Conference and was Co-Newcomer and Tri-Defensive Player of the Year for the SAC.
SAM Massagno Basket competes in the 22-team Ligue National de Basketball.
