"I am really appreciative of this opportunity," Spicer said. "It means a lot to be able to continue to play basketball; it's a dream come true."
Elitzur Ramla BC, coached by Iidan Plada, is a member of Liga Leumit, the second division of Israeli basketball. Spicer will be one of two Americans on the team. He signed a one-year contract to play an eight-month season (Sept.-April), and will leave the U.S. Sept. 15, to begin training.
"I am excited for Spicer, this is a great opportunity for him," Head Men's Basketball Coach Justin Barkley said. "He has worked very hard on his game and we hope he makes the most of it and will represent RSU well, he has many supporters here."
The Dallas, Texas native spent three seasons with the Hillcats. He averaged 16.4 points in his senior season, leading the team in scoring. He averaged 6.4 rebounds per game and led the team in rebounds with 160 on the year. As a junior he was named All-America - Honorable Mention, All-Sooner Athletic Conference - Second Team and was named All-Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament MVP. He averaged 13 points and four rebounds while leading the Hillcats to a Sooner Athletic Conference Championship and No. 1 national ranking in 2008-2009. Spicer set a single-game school record with 32 points against OCU on Feb., 21, 2009.
