Undefeated Sooner Athletic Conference regular season champion Oklahoma Baptist predictably led the All-SAC volleyball awards announced Friday morning.
OBU sophomore Kristin Pressley was named MVP of the SAC for 2011, while Anna Howle was named Coach of the Year and Cami Weimer was selected Libero of the Year.
Also making the list of 2011 SAC superlatives are Hitter of the Year Kate Trejos of Wayland Baptist, Setter of the Year Jordan Goings of Lubbock Christian, Newcomer of the Year Kaylee Piatt of Southern Nazarene and Freshman of the Year Abbey White of Lubbock Christian.
Pressley, an outside hitter from Mansfield, Texas, was third in the NAIA with 553 total kills and 42nd in the NAIA in total digs.
Weimer, a senior from Fort Morgan, Colo., was fourth in the NAIA with 832 digs this season, averaging a conference-leading 4.8 per set.
Howle coached the team to a league record 14 wins, leading the team to the first 14-0 conference record.
Trejos, a senior from Bogata, Colombia, averaged a SAC-best 4.2 kills per set.
Goings, a senior from Aledo, Texas, led the SAC with 10.8 assists per set.
Piatt, a sophomore from Bryan, Texas, averaged 10.5 assists and White, in her first college season, averaged 2.8 kills and 2.4 digs per set.
Joining Pressley, Weimer, Goings, Trejos and Piatt on the First-Team are Sabra Clark of Oklahoma Baptist, Erin Didier and Allie Rankin of John Brown, Taylor Jacobs and Ellen Martin of SNU, Brittany Johnson and Bailey Jones of Lubbock Christian and Raissa Santos of Oklahoma City.
The Second Team includes Alex Benbrook and Victoria Cross of OCU, Katelyn Biddy, Jamie Hope and Natalia Oliveira of SNU, Tasha Giacomazzi, Tatiana Gonzalez and Kimberli Harger of WBU, Chassie Hamilton and Skyler Strahm of OBU, Sarah Jordan of JBU, Caitlin Kender of LCU and Callie Solic of Mid-America Christian.
Making Honorable Mention are Bekah Anderson and Taryn Walker of MACU, Kailey Bain and Stacy Williamson of JBU, Ashley Duff of WBU, Megan Irwin of OCU, Nikki Ralston of LCU, Kira Roberts of SNU and Tasha White of OBU.
