Kithuka of Wayland Baptist and Jeff Lewis of Oklahoma Baptist have been named
Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week -
the first such honors of 2012.
Kithuka, a junior distance runner from Nairobi, Kenya, broke the WBU and facility record in the 3000 meters at the Texas Tech Open, winning in 8:06.64. He also won the 1000 meters in 2:31.16.
Lewis, a senior pole vaulter from Cameron Park, Calif., cleared the bar at 16-0.75 to take second at the Texas Tech Open and qualify for nationals.
