OBU's Blaine Bassler
Wayland Baptist's Gregory Turner and Oklahoma Baptist's Blaine Bassler are Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week for April 9-15.
Turner, a junior from West Sacremento, Calif., posted the NAIA's best times and established new school records in both the 100- and 200-meters at Texas Tech. In addition, he ran a leg on the 4x400-meter relay team which also turned in the NAIA's top time of the season. The previous school mark in the 100-meters (10.24) was 24 years old, while the old record in the 200-meters (20.51) was set in 2003.
Bassler, a junior from Waco, Texas, placed second in the pole vault at the John Jacobs Invitational, clearing 15-7 to tie the No. 6 height in the NAIA this season.
