OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City University posted the leading score through the first round of the Sooner Athletic Conference women's golf championships on Monday at Lincoln Park Golf Course.
The Stars, ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, carded a 299 to hold a six-shot advantage on eighth-ranked Lubbock Christian and 11th-ranked Oklahoma Christian on the par-72, 6,004-yard course.
No. 16 Wayland Baptist sat in fourth with a 310, while 20th-rated Southern Nazarene had a 319. No. 24 Oklahoma Baptist shot 325.
"We played really solid today," OCU coach Marty McCauley said. "I was happy with our consistency."
Anna Schopp of Lubbock Christian and Anna Arrese of Oklahoma Christian were tied atop the leaderboard after each shooting a 71. Schopp sank a tournament-high five birdies, while Arrese had three Monday. Jessica Schiele of Oklahoma City stood a shot back with a 72. Schiele birdied three holes in the first 18.
Morgan Dockery of Oklahoma Christian and Mary Larsh of Oklahoma City were knotted for fourth with a 75. Dockery recorded three birdies, while Larsh had two birdies.
Sinae Montoya of Lubbock Christian, Madison Haley and Taylor Howard of Oklahoma City and Sarah Helly and Ayne Macombe of Wayland Baptist each fired a 76 to be a stroke out in the race for all-conference honors.
The final round of the SAC Championships starts 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lincoln Park.
