KANSAS CITY, Mo. (April 25, 2012) - For the second time this spring, Oklahoma Christian's Anna Arrese Cortadellas has been named as the NAIA women's golfer of the week, the national office announced Wednesday.

Arrese, a freshman from Barcelona, Spain, received the national honor after earning medalist honors last week in the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship at Lincoln Park Golf Club's West Course in Oklahoma City.

She fired consecutive rounds of 1-under-par 71 on the 6,004-yard course and won by two shots as the No. 11-ranked Lady Eagles finished second in a field that included six teams ranked in the NAIA top 25.

"
Anna works very hard on her golf and the results show it," OC coach Greg Lynn said. "She has a tremendous feel for the game and I expect she will continue to have success in golf at Oklahoma Christian."

Arrese also received the national honor three weeks ago after posting an eight-shot win in the Battle at Primm at Primm Valley Golf Club in Primm, Nev. She is the only golfer, male or female, to be named as NAIA golfer of the week twice this season.

Arrese's honor marked the fifth time during the 2011-12 school year that an OC athlete has received a national weekly award from the NAIA. Silas Kisorio (men's cross country), Brandon Jackson (men's track and field) and Alasdair Dalgliesh (men's golf) earned NAIA honors earlier.
