Oklahoma Baptist will play in its second NAIA Opening Round Tournament, beginning Thursday, in Hutchinson, Kan.
OBU, at 46-12, will be the top seed in the tournament that also includes Rogers State (41-14), Tabor (41-13), Judson (46-12) and Dakota State (28-26). The Bison are ranked seventh in the final NAIA poll, while Judson is 17th, Rogers State 23rd and Tabor 30th. Dakota State is not ranked.
The Bison open at 6:30 p.m. against the winner of Tabor
and Dakota State. Tabor plays Dakota State at 11 a.m., followed by Rogers State and Judson in the 2:30 p.m. game on Thursday.
The Tabor Bracket has four 40-win teams in the field, whereas none of the other eight brackets has more than two and four brackets have only one 40-win squad in the field.
OBU's second game would be at 2:30 or 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The 2:30 contest is a winner's bracket contest while the 6:30 p.m. game is an elimination game.
Games on Saturday are at 3 or 6:30 p.m. with the if-necessary game set for Monday at 1 p.m.
OBU took three of four games from Rogers State in the regular season, including a win in the conference tournament. Both OBU and RSU had dates with Tabor rained out.
Tabor swept its two games against Dakota State in the regular season.
The Sooner Athletic Conference's other two teams in Opening Round action - Lubbock Christian and Oklahoma City, are also paired together in the Oklahoma City bracket.
