Oklahoma Christian's Heather Ray won the college women's half marathon and OC coaches Wayne Strohman and Mark Thompson were on the winning relay team at the Seventh-Annual Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon Sunday.

OC’s Heather Ray placed first among female runners in the college division of the Oklahoma City Memorial Half Marathon Sunday.

Ray finished the 13.1-mile course in 1:31:00, good for fourth among all females and 49th overall.

OC’s Allen Thompson placed third among college men and seventh overall with a time of 1:15:56. OC teammates Kevin Brown and Kevin Poole finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the college men’s division. Their times of 1:19:00 and 1:19:32 were good for 12th and 13th overall.

Lady Eagle Michelle Lair placed fifth among college females with a time of 1:40:14. She finished 21st among all females and 153rd overall.

In addition to OC’s success in the half marathon, coaches Wayne Strohman and Mark Thompson ran the first two legs on the first-place marathon relay team.

Strohman, OC’s cross country head coach, and Thompson, an assistant coach for OC’s cross country and track programs, teamed with Sam Dech, Gary Hamer and Deer Creek High School coach David Ridden to win the event.

Numerous coaches, student-athletes and athletic staff members competed in various Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon events.
