SALEM, Ore. (May 26, 2012) - All five men in Oklahoma Christian's starting lineup have been honored on the NAIA All-America men's golf teams, which were released Saturday.
OC was represented on the first team by sophomore Alasdair Dalgliesh, junior Vilhelm Bogstrand and junior Logan Herbst. Senior Preston Wilkins and sophomore Jared Consoli made the second-team list.
OC, which finished second to Oklahoma City University in the NAIA Championship that ended Friday at Creekside Golf Club, had more honorees than any other school, including OCU.
Herbst repeated as a first-team All-American while Wilkins also was a second-team All-America pick last season. In Wilkins' four seasons on the Eagles' squad, OC won two national titles and finished as the national runner-up twice.
Bogstrand, who finished third at the NAIA Championship, and Herbst, who tied for 10th, were named to the all-tournament team on Friday. Also Friday, Bogstrand and Dalgliesh were named to the PING NAIA All-America first-team list.
Dalgliesh posted a 72.2 stroke average this season, breaking the previous OC sophomore record of 72.8, set in 2004 by Juan Lizzarralde.
"I am extremely proud of our team this year," OC coach David Lynn said. "For all five of our guys to be named All-American shows how deep we were. Ali had an incredible sophomore season. Logan had a very consistent year again. Vilhelm stepped up his game all year in being named to the first team for the first time.
"Preston concluded a stellar career at OC, becoming a four-time All-American. Lastly, Jared was a nice surprise, being named to the second team. He won his first event (the Wyndham Invitational at TPC Four Seasons in Las Colinas, Texas) and had a solid year."
