St. Gregory's announced the hiring of D.J. Sanchez as the new head coach of the Cavalier softball program.  Sanchez has most recently been an assistant coach at the University of Kansas.

D.J. Sanchez has worked with the pitching staff at the University of Kansas during her stay in Lawrence.  While under her direction the Jayhawk pitching staff had their lowest team ERA since the 2009 season.  Sanchez mentored pitcher Alicia Pile, who ended this past season with a team high 17 wins, the most for a KU pitcher since the 2008 season.

Sanchez played collegiately at the University of Oklahoma from 2006-2009.  While at OU, she helped the Sooners to an overall record of 143-37.  Sanchez was a three-time All-Big 12 team member as a pitcher, and an NFCA All-Region and NFCA All-American during her time in Norman.  She finished her career ranked in the top three in career wins, career winning percentage, and appearances for the Sooners.

D.J. Sanchez is a hard-working coach who is happy to be given this opportunity from St. Gregory's University.  Sanchez will strive to maintain the Cavalier softball program as one of the top programs in the NAIA.

Sanchez is married to Kyle Sanchez and they have an 8 month old son, Cal.
