PLAINVIEW-- Wayland Baptist University's Hildon Boen has been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America® College Division men's cross country/track & field first team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The Capital One College Division Academic All-America® men's and women's cross country/track and field teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions. To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

 

Boen, who previously was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 team, is one of 15 members named to the men's All-America first team.

A junior from El Doret, Kenya, Boen holds a 3.4 GPA in accounting at Wayland. He won NAIA All-American honors in cross country with a top 20 showing at the 2011 NAIA Championships and was member of the national champion distance medley relay team at the 2012 NAIA Indoor Track Championships. Boen also earned all-American honors as a part of the Pioneers' 3,200-meter relay teams during both the indoor and outdoor national meets.
