The Wayland Baptist University Flying Queens and the women's cross country team have been honored as all-academic teams by the NAIA.
The cross country team produced a 3.17 grade-point average while the basketball team finished with a cumulative 3.08 GPA.
Cross country head coach Brian Whitlock said it was the third time his teams have received all-academic honors in his nine seasons with WBU.
"I'm very happy that not only we were successful as a cross country team, but most importantly we were successful in the classroom, which says a lot about the time and efforts these girls have put in," Whitlock said.
It's the fourth consecutive year for the Queens to earn the honor, according to head coach Tory Bryant.
"Our kids do a great job balancing academics and athletics on an annual basis," said Bryant, who is entering his sixth season at WBU. "I'm proud of our student-athletes for their achievements in the classroom."
Members of the 2011-12 Flying Queens were Angeleigh Davis, Olivia Patterson, Erika Raymond, Alex Williams, Jessen Tucker, Kirstie Edwards, Toia Wiltz, Emily Williams, Maty Diallo, CeCe Williams, Ashton Pedigo, Aubrey Pedigo and Dorine Minala.
