Player of the Year Ollie Bailey
League champion Oklahoma City University captured the most honors, grabbing three of the superlative awards of the 2007-08 All-Sooner Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Team.
Ollie Bailey, who averaged 18.4 points and 8.5 rebounds, was named both Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. He is a senior from Chicago, who transferred from Rutgers.
Ray Harper of Oklahoma City shared Coach of the Year honors with Southern Nazarene’s Mike Broughton.
Oklahoma Christian’s Jeff Crocker was named Freshman of the Year.
Three players – Chuck Love of Northwestern Oklahoma State, Brent Kimmel of Southern Nazarene and Danny Storey of Wayland Baptist – were Defensive Players of the Year in a three-way tie.
Bailey and Storey made First-Team All-Conference and were joined by SNU’s Brandon Durham, Oklahoma Christian’s Jason Taylor, Patrick Jones of St. Gregory’s and Brent Jones of Oklahoma Baptist.
The Second Team included Brandon Brown of Northwestern, Tim Nelson of USAO, Willie Irick and Kameron Gray of Oklahoma City, Kimmel and John Brown’s Joel Tesis.
Making the Third Team were Roderick Rodgers of Rogers State, Tommy Lane of Lubbock Christian, Milorad Damjanac of SNU, Bryson Krueger of Rogers State, Evan Grace of OBU, Kyle Tefft of Oklahoma Christian and Termaine Snyder of Northwestern.
