Ten men’s basketball players from the Sooner Athletic
Conference were named to the NAIA All-America teams, the NAIA announced
Tuesday night. OCU's Ray Harper was named Coach of the Year.
SAC Player of the Year Ollie Bailey tops the list as the only
First-Team All-American from the conference and was named NAIA Player
of the Year.
Danny Storey of Wayland Baptist is the lone second-team selection, while Brandon Durham of Southern Nazarene and Jason Taylor of Oklahoma Christian made the third team.
Honorable Mention honorees included Brandon Brown of Northwestern Oklahoma State, Kameron Gray of Oklahoma City, Willie Irick of Oklahoma City, Brent Jones of Oklahoma Baptist, Patrick Jones of St. Gregory’s and Tim Nelson of USAO.
Bailey led the national finalist Stars in scoring (18.8) and rebounding (8.1).
Storey, the conference’s leader in rebounding at 10.85 per game, also averaged a team-best 14.6 points per game.
Durham led the SAC in assists at 4.6 and steals at 2.9 per game. He also averaged 15.4 points per game. Taylor led the conference in scoring as a sophomore, averaging 19.1 points per game. Taylor also averaged eight rebounds per game.
