OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Former Mid-America Christian University basketball player, Joseph Brown signed a professional contract to play in Sangalhos, Portugal.
Brown came to play at MACU in 2006. As a junior point guard he averaged 17 point per game. He was a member of the 2007 NCCAA National Championship Team and was named to the all-tournament team. As a senior, Brown averaged 14 points per game. In the Sooner Athletic Conference his three point field goal percentage was ranked in the top ten. Brown graduated with a B.A. in business administration in the spring of 2008.
Prior to his playing career at MACU, Brown spent two years at Rose State College. As a freshman he averaged 11 points a game with five rebounds and his team place 5th in the NJCAA National Tournament. As a junior he scored 21 points and was voted the team's most valuable player.
Brown, 25, from Chandler, Oklahoma is the son of Carmella Cavers and Albert Brown. He is a Chandler High School graduate. While playing basketball for the Chandler Lions he was an all-conference selection and all-state honorable mention. He was the 2002 Class 2A ‘Player to Watch,' and he was voted his team MVP twice.
