Matt Pearson - new JBU cross country coach
John Brown University Director of Athletics Robyn Daugherty has announced that Matt Pearson has been hired as the new men's and women's cross country coach at John Brown University.
Pearson, who is no stranger to JBU, lettered for four years on JBU's men's cross country team from 1981-1984. During that time, he garnered numerous accolades among those being named National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Cross-Country National Champion in 1983 and 1984 and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-American in 1984.
"It is a privilege to take on the coaching responsibilities for the JBU cross-country program," said Pearson. "Running has been a life-long friend to me and I have had the pleasure of receiving good coaching myself. Our goals for the first year are to establish a solid foundation for the program by recruiting those that have a passion to participate, building team spirit, and beginning the climb to personal improvement."
Pearson, who currently teaches full-time in the construction management program at JBU, will continue to teach on a part-time basis as well as attend to his private architectural practice.
He and his wife Kirsten reside in Siloam Springs with their two children, Elliot (11) and Allika (9).
