(Full Results)
Oklahoma Christian got a big performance from Silas Kisorio and David McWilliams to win the Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Championship Friday at Lubbock Christian University.
With the win, OC advances to the NAIA Championship Meet in Vancouver, Wash. Nov. 21.
Kisorio won the meet in 24:41 and McWilliams was third at 25:48 to lead the Eagles to a 48-point performance. Rounding out the scoring for OC were Geoffrey Njonjo in 11th, Brayden Barrientez in 13th and Andy Schmidt in 20th.
Oklahoma Baptist was second at 64, followed by Lubbock Christian at 77, Wayland Baptist at 84, Southern Nazarene at 86, Northwestern Oklahoma State at 196, Oklahoma City at 203 and Mid-America Christian at 205.
Five individual runners not from Oklahoma Christian also will qualify for the national meet. Assured of that appearance are Lubbock Christian's Basil Melek, Southern Nazarene's Benson Chepkwony and Lubbock Christian's Izzie Miranda.
Because the SAC men could earn one and possibly two at-large berths to the meet, it is not yet known what other two runners will get individual invitations. The at-large berths will become official on Sunday.
Kisorio, Melek, McWilliams, Chepkwony, Miranda, Njonjo and Barrientez all earned All-Conference honors, along with Wayland Baptist's Timmy McCune, Kirby Dunn and Lucias Lopez, Oklahoma Baptist's Nathan Ellis, Caleb Clark and Justin Stroup, and Southern Nazarene's Erick Ngeny and Seth Carley.
